If Amazon insists on being stupidly obstinate on their country-specific model, take it as a competitive disadvantage that doesn't afflict other platforms to the same degree. I imagine you could work around these problems with enough effort - but there's no point, since the same sources and services are readily available through other channels that run on the Fire Stick if you really want. The Pluto TV app is one that won't connect, even though Pluto TV runs fine in a web browser without a VPN. Turning on a VPN works for a few, but not for most as they either detect the VPN or do additional location checking that would require additional spoofing.

They will even install - but they won't stream, variously producing Connection Error or Service Not Available in Your Country. apps for download in the Amazon app store, no VPN needed. In case anyone was curious about this, I attached a new Fire Stick to my existing account. I think now they ask for phone verification when you create a new account, if I wanted to try to make a quick throwaway, but I'm not certain. As far as I can tell the only official way to get this app, maybe I'm not certain it would work, would be to reset the Firestick to defaults, attach it to an American Amazon account, connect to the VPN, and then I'm guessing at that point you would have access to the American Amazon appstore with whatever American apps you want.Īctually I have an old Firestick and I think I made an American account at one point for some kinda dev thing. It does not appear in search results, and when that launch error happens and it directs you to click to get the proper app, the Firestick cannot get the app that way either. If your VPN is recognized as a US ip, then you will be offered to download the correct app for your device.Įven when you are connected to the US VPN the Amazon appstore (whatever you wanna call it) cannot provide the app.

You should connect to Pluto TV using VPN with a US ip address first.
